Last night I celebrated the end of my 5th year of higher education. If only that were the true end. It's not. I still have another year to go and I'll be nothing more than a marketing major when its all said and finished, kind of disappointing. This will be the first summer in 4 years that I won't be taking summer classes. By now I'm used to the end of finals meaning nothing more than in another week, I'll start it all over again. Not this year tho, I have 4 months before my brain must be again used. I now have 4 months of serving people for a living... Ungrateful people for the most part. The kind that see it fit to only tip 10% on most occasions, and being as that we have the cheapest damn menu in all the land, it gets interesting sometimes.

Back to topic... To kick off my extended learning vacation my friend Jonathan and I went to Peoples last night to catch some Hello Dave. We really try and catch them whenever they come to town, have been since our sophomore year. They're pretty much a straigh bluegrass/rock kind of band. They have a lot of their own music and occasionally throgh in a cover here or there. Last night they did "Hotel California" and "Another Brick in the Wall" which I must say is quite possibly one of the best covers of that song ever.

Now the way I see it, there are a few distinctive types of people that go to the bar. There are guys who go to get obliterated. There are girls who go to get obliterated. There are guys who go to hit on everything with breasts in the bar. There are girls who go to show off everything they have. I mostly find it amusing to observe these creatures in their habitat. Most of it is quite comical. But the true reason I go is for the music. I love music, all kinds of music, and especially live music. I love to feel the energy of a live show. The energy from the band, the energy from the crowd. The feeling the bass has on your body. Screaming at the top of your lungs as you sing along to the songs. It's the whole great experience that I thuroughly enjoy.

Moral of the story.... Support live music and local talent. Thank-you.
