Meghan is friend I met my freshman year in College. She's from Chicago originally and has since gone back as she was lucky enough to actually graduate in less than a decade. In August of 2002 her father suffered a stroke that inevitably changed all of their lives forever. The stroke left her father paralyzed on his right side. He has not since been able to walk and has limited speech ability. Personally touched by the effects of a stroke, Meghan decided to do something about it. She is now raising money for the American Stroke Association. If she can meet her goal of $4,900, she will be running a full marathon on June 19, 2005 as a memeber of the American Stroke Association Train To End Stroke Team. If you have an extra couple of dollars laying around that you might spend on a couple sodas or a bag of chips, please consider helping my friend and her goal of helping millions of people around the world affected by strokes.

I was in Best Buy the other day purchasing the new
Dishwalla cd. I handed it to the kid and he asked me what band it was. (I guess the thought of reading the cd itself was too much.) I told him it was
Dishwalla to which he responded "Never heard of them." To this I reminded him that about 10 years ago they had a hit called
Counting Blue Cars. His response to this.... "Never heard it." What the hell kid, did you never listen to the radio as a child????? There is no way that I am that old. I understand maybe not being familiar with their recent work as they've kind of slid out of the mainstream. But hell, they played the song every 10 minutes when I was 14. Hmmm, however if I was 14 he would have been like 7 I suppose. Shit, I'm old.
Feel free to comment on the fact that possibly you know who in the hell I'm talking about, or atleast know the song.... Please be old with me.

When I was much younger I used to wake up in the morning and get
myself dressed and get a bowl of cereal. For some reason I was a
sucker for grapenuts with half & half instead of milk. A little sugar
and good to go. Occasionally afterwards my parent's would take me to
my great-grandma's and she would inevitably ask me if I'd eaten yet.
Of course my answer was no so that she would make me a plate of eggs
over-easy and some toast. It's no wonder I was a little chubby as a
kid.
Numberous years later I'm getting old. I really don't like eggs over
easy at all anymore. Scrambled is the way to go. And this morning I
had a bowl of cereal with some good ol' half & half. My stomach says
no! There are little pissed off stomach cleaners ( a la Osmosis Jones)
marching around my stomach with annoyed faces, pausing every few
minutes to kick in my insides and remind me that "Hey, you're an old
fart."

If you haven't done so yet, I'd strongly suggest checking out the trailer for "
Serenity." It was at one point a television show entitled "Firefly" that was canceled after only 11 airings. You can buy the complete series featuring 3 never aired shows on amazon.com for something like $35. It's from Joss Whedon who brought us such goodness that is Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Anyways, it's good stuff so check it out!

I love all music, I really do. Except for rap or really hard rock. So perhaps not all music but a good majority of it. That being said, I don't know it gets much better than classic rock. I was feeling a little slow this morning until I hit the ol play button on iTunes and up came some "Come Sail Away." Woo boy, no one does a better rendition than my room mate and I at 9.30 in the morning. Then some "Walk of Life." It just keeps getting better. I'm ready to run a marathon by now. Or atleast have a lot of energy while maintaining my comfy seated position.

From guys sitting in front of me in class:
"Where would I get a tortoise? You know, if I was in the market for
one. Not that I am."

I was under the impression that getting up every morning would make it
bearable. That I eventually wouldn't mind getting up in the morning. I
was under the wrong impression. I want to go back to bed until
noonish. Thank-you

I'm not really sure what I'm going to include in this blog quite yet. I'm sure it'll take quite a few posts to figure out what exactly I want to say, and how to say it. I'll probably have to figure what things I'll like to share with everyone and what I would rather not. Hopefully its more light-hearted than not and hopefully everyone who reads this occasionally will leave with a smile. I'm not too worried now however, as I seem to have all of two readers...

The begininng of dead week, what a better time to kick off a blog than one of the most stressful times of the year?
