Now Playing: "Denial" -- Cool For August -- Grand World

Ode to a rectangle

So in my apartment, I have a giant grill just inside my entry that is the return air vent for my furnace. Once every 6 months or so, the friendly people stop by to change the "filter." I let them, it's the least I can do. Literally, it's the very least I can do. The last time they changed my "filter" was about a month and a half ago. It should be noted that I have never dusted so much in my life. My ceiling fans are impressively dirty. My silver trimmed television is more of a charcoal grey currently. The reflective surface of my A/V rack isn't so reflective. So as I spray three-four bottles of windex about my apartment and use the better part of a long lost rainforest in an attempt to eliminate the dust, I am forced to ask: "Mr. Filter, what in the hell are you filtering? Perhaps they have mis-named you. You are not a "Furnace Filter." You are an "Expedite The Movement of Dust Around the Apartmenter," (EMDAA for short)

To commemorate my 100th post, I'd like everyone to know that I just sneezed. Thank-you.

Conversation

It's fun the conversations I get to take part in, not everyone has friends like mine.

(Conversation about Bond)

Me: Why are bad guys always so damned inept?

Him: The teachers at the bad guy school are underpaid.

Note to girl in my class...

It's no longer high-lighting when your entire piece of paper is all pink. All you've done is taken the long way around to writing your notes on pink paper. You must really love coloring books...

TGIM

Ah yes, I bet there are very few people who become excited when Monday rolls around, count me in as one of the few. Here's a look at my weeks for my last semester.

Mondays: NOTHING! No class, no work. Me time. Time to me. Sleep in. Relax. Play some 360. Read a book. Do something that is unrelated to responsibility!

Tuesday: Hello classy! I have it from 9:30 -> 3:30 straight.

My first class of the day is Advrt 497, Managing Creativity. This seems like it will be a pretty interesting class. It's taught by a man who worked 30 years for Maytag in their creative department. I think it will actually be one of the more useful classes I've taken in college. It's a good way to start the day as well, instead of sitting in class for 90 minutes listening to someone else talk, we are broken into groups, given some sort of problem with parameters and proceed to work out creative strategies and concepts with our groups utilizing the tools taught in the class. Sounds pretty fun.

Class numero duece of the day is Mrkt 442, Sales Management. It's in a nice little room with comfy seating, the same as my last three classes of the day actually. Seems like a pretty straightforward class about the business world. I think the professor seems pretty entertaining and it should be a decent glass. Unfortunately he did write the book however, so I'm guessing he knows what's in it.

After a wonderful 20 minutes break to buy a pop and grab a paper, I have Mrkt 443, Strategic Marketing Management. This is a pretty straightforward marketing class that's required in your last semester. There's no book for the class, just a bunch of problems that we'll go through and figure out how to assess different situations and interpret data to derive meaningful management data. Should be fairly interesting and perhaps educational, what a thought!

My last class of the day is Mrkt 478, Business Strategy. I was skeptical at first, the prof. seemed a little stern and probably not much fun, but after we got going, it seems that she's very knowledgeable and actually quite funny. That might actually make the class bearable after I've already sat through 4.5 hours of learning.

So there's a quick overview of my classes. Should be quite the semester. After my last class on Tuesdays, I'm done for the day, no worky for me.

Wednesday: Wednesdays I work all day. Going in about 11 I'll probably be done by 9 or so, unless I Supervise at night, which means it'll probably be closer to 10:30.

Thursday: Do the class thing all over again, 9:30-3:30. Then just for fun, I go to work afterwards. Probably 5 until 10 or so.

Friday: No class, so of course I work all day, most likely 11 until about 11. Nice 12 hour work day.

Saturday: Work in the morning, 10:15 - 4:30

Sunday: Work 11-4

Now I feel you probably understand why I love Mondays. It's my weekend. My whole weekend shoved into one day where I don't have to work, and I don't have to go to class. How nice Mondays will be. I wonder how many other people have 12 credits of 400+ level classes and work 35 hours/week during their final semester. I'm guessing not many, lucky me...

Hello, Goodbye

So this is my final semester, a little odd I feel. After 11 previous semesters, plus a couple of summers, this is pretty much all I know. The routine of going to class. Juggling homework with work. Sleeping in. All things that I've become fairly accustomed to, and soon it will be over. That thought is somewhat exciting, but the thought of finding a job is all too daunting, this should be quite the ride.

Last Lyric

"And the dream is still alive
From that first December morning
And it always will survive
As long as we can see
That the dreams we find in life
Are the dreams we tend to seek
And Christmas has its promises to keep"

Woh, that lyric has been up there quite awhile, of course not much has happened in this general area of the blog for awhile either, sorry about that. I'll try and be a skoosh better. Anyway, back to the lyric. It's from a lil ol Trans-Siberian Orchestra cd entitled "Christmas Eve & Other Stories" A cd and band I happen to love. They have three Christmas CDs out that are really more Christmas Rock Operas. They are my personal choice for general listening pleasure during the christmas time. My girlfriend says they are not Christmas songs. It is instead merely "Winter Themed Music." Beit as that may be, I'm perfectly content with my winter themed music.
