There was a time in my life when I used to watch MTV. I didn't watch it for Real World 23 or Road Rules Xtra Wicked, or the Guantleted Inferno of Doom. (Of course I occasionally watch many of these shows now) But I watched it for the music. You know, the "M" of MTV. I used to watch Poison, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Warrant and other bands whose videos played all day long. Slowly but shirly the videos went and were replaced with non music related programming, and when they did play music, it was mostly rap anyway. So I began watching VH1. They still played music. That didn't last long now did it? Now we have all kids of werid ass shows, and music from 2:30 until 9 in the morning. Since when did a musican channels secondary programming become music? And once again, the music that they play seems to be more and more rap and hip hop and pop music. So I ask the world, where has the music gone? Reality TV Killed the video star. I like music, I like good music, I like varitey in music. I don't want to have three versions of BET when I feel like watching a video (which is rarely at 3 in the morning mind you.) So damnit, play some music you bastards!!!!! Play some good ol rock and roll. You can play the rap, occasinally, but whatya say we mix it up a bit? Some Nelly, then some Barry Manilow. It could work...
