Now Playing: "Denial" -- Cool For August -- Grand World

My mornings

So I usually get up at around 7.30 everyday. I make my girlfriend some coffee and wish her a good day at work. By now it's all of 8 in the morning. Sometimes I take a lil nap on the sofa, as I did today. At 9 there was a loud pounding on the door. My nano dock had arrived, now my lil ipod has a place to rest at night. A tasty bowl of wheaties... (I'm thinking tasty is subjective. Let's face it, tasty doesn't exactly describe wheaties. Impressively bland is more likely.) ... some cold pizza (the show) and now I'm sitting my pjs with my warm lil slippers doing some homework and watching some FoodNetwork show featuring Rachel Ray and Mr. Cheech. Yep, I'm certainly livin the Vie da Loca.

Hello Fall

It's raining outside, has been since 7 this morning or so. Thankfully the temperature is up to a balmy 52 degrees. Goodbye summer. It was nice seeing you. Hope to see you again next year.

tested

So my test is over and now I wait calmly upstairs in the quiet little cranny I’ve found before my next, oh so boring, class. I'm fairly sure this was the most difficult test yet of my young final year. I felt ready going into it, but then the questions came, one after another. Occasionally the answers came quick. Other times I sat and stared wondering if I’d ever actually learned any of the terms that were laid before me. I usually just narrowed it down to the three that made the most sense and then chose which ever somewhat haphazardly. I’m most certain that’s what my future employee will want to hear when I go for a job…

I've got big balls

So I'm doing some good ole photoshoping, when AC/DC comes up on itunes. Is there a better, more amusing song than this? I mean there have been some quasi funny songs of late, but I think most of them try too hard or are just overly blatant and in your face. If anyone can think of another song that is layered with innuendos like this one, let me know.

Glued to the TV

I don't know about anyone else, but I personally find myself glued to Foxnews. I'm not particularly fond of their "fair and balanced" *cough* *cough* view, but they do feature pretty much 24 hour coverage of the hurricane. I can't pull myself away. Mostly I think I find myself awestruck with nature. It's truly an amazing thing to watch. If you come across any pictures from space, their quite incredible as well. This is one of those times I'm glad that I live in the fairly mundane state of Iowa, I'm guessing there are several people down south who wouldn't mind living here as well right about now...

Here are some interesting links to hurricane related things...

Today's Interesting News

I added a link on the right where I'll put some interesting news stories of the day. I try and update this daily, even if I don't have time to make a formal post.

Bad Breakfast Idea

So my milk is old. Can't really have cereal that way. I did stop at the gas station and get some coffee this morning. I like coffee when it's less coffee than sugar and cream. I don't generally drink coffee in the morning though because sometimes my stomach goes on strike afterwards. It's not a friendly strike, it's less shouting and more stabbing. Maybe someone took their markers. But I thought I'd give it a shot this morning. When I returned home I turned to the search for early morning food. As I looked through the fridge, the couple packages of tapioca pudding sounded tasty, so I ate em up. Bad idea. There is currently a Clash of the Titans occurring in my stomach, complete with bad graphics and all.

A Note on some of the Linkage

I figured that something that will help fill the space would be if I occasionally talked about why I link what I link.

I'll start with my most recent addition, Major Nelson. This is one of my more geeky links I suppose. Major Nelson is the Director of Programming for Xbox Live. On his blog he talks about the goings on at Microsoft and Xbox. Honestly the podcast that he does weekly is more informative than the blog itself. I've provided a link to the podcast on the right as well. The casts are usually around an hour long and he talks about new things he's come across as well as answering some questions that listeners have e-mailed or phoned in to him. Like I said, this is probably the "geekiest" of my links, but it's kind of cool if you're interested in the next generation of gaming systems.

Today is work

Today I return to work for the first time since Friday. This isn't really something I look particularly forward to. I feel I'm good at my job, and I do what I can. I don't complain, I show up, I do what is asked of me and I leave. It's a decent paying job, especially given that I have class all day and need to work at night. However, this weekend I was reminded of how eager I am to get out of college. To move on to life with a real job. A job where I can have my nights and weekends. Not a job that I work 6 days a week on top of 5 days of classes. It makes for long days, tired mornings, and takes time from relationships. It's a situation that I am most tired of. Lucky for me, I get an unusually place night off tomorrow, of course it is my birthday and I'm entitled.

I Do : You Should Too

I'm going to Starting a new section and genre to my posting. Occasionally I'll post things that I enjoy and you should check out if you have some free time. It will probably be music most of the time, but perhaps I 'll throw in a book or show occasionally to keep you off guard. After I post it here, I'll also have a link on the right hand side that you can click on to go somewhere related to the item. I'm going to try and find places that offer samples of the music whenever possible. I hope you enjoy and perhaps find something new you like!

Anthony Stewart Head - Music For Elevators
Some of you might recognize this as Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Well it turns out he also has a CD. I originally purchased this CD out of curiosity and general like of Joss Whedon shows. I was quite pleasantly surprised with what I found.

The CD is a collaboration of Anthony doing vocals and George Sarah doing everything else. Anthony has a very smooth and calming delivery style that works wonderfully with George's beats in the background. It's basically an electronic album but not so much techno as rainy day music. I love the variety offered within this CD and I would highly suggest you follow the link and give a couple tracks a quick listen, I doubt you'll be disappointed! If you're looking for a departure from the watered down rock market, this is the way to go.

Little Thing

So I made a slight redesign today as you can already tell I'm sure. I need to go through and fix the links and things and maybe change some colors and fun things like that if I figure out how and have time. My already sparse time is going to get even worse considering I have huge group projects in every class this semester. I guess it's worth it. Me and my $100k debt would like to get out of school and find a job that doesn't pay me enough to repay loans and have a place to live. Ah, only 5 decades til I get to retire. Life is good.

Aw hell

I have no cereal, what's a man to do?

Just curious...

When you listen to the President in interviews, does it make anybody else want to bang their head against something? Or maybe that's just me...
